Jerry Padgett

Jerry C. Padgett, age 78, of Ferry Road, Forest City, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born May 29, 1936 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Clark Hal Padgett and Eva Pearl Calton Padgett. Jerry worked for Cone Mills-Avondale Plant for over fifty years and was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors which included brush-hogging, camping and fishing. Jerry was also an avid listener of blue grass music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Max and Bill Padgett; sister, Syble Padgett and a grandson, Elijah Cole.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Betty D. Padgett; daughter, Lisa Toney of Forest City; son, Scottie Ray Padgett of Morganton; sister, Mary Robbins and husband, Glenn of Forest City; two grandchildren, Emily Deanne Toney and Ethan Noah Toney; one great-granddaughter, Riley Mae Green and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at six o'clock on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
