Jerry Williams, age 70, of Ellenboro, died Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.
Jerry was born November 20, 1949 in Polk County, NC to Cecil Williams and Katherine Parker Williams who reside in Columbus, NC. Jerry served honorably in the U.S. Army and was an auto body restorer for many years. He most recently worked for American Auto Body located in Columbus. He enjoyed working on cars and was skilled at woodworking.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Williams and a sister, Betty Morgan.
In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Barbara and granddaughter, Jessica Hardin of the home; two daughters, Carla Binicki (James) of Alabama and Frankie Gettys (Jerry) of Caroleen; son, Jimmy Hardin (Donna) of Cliffside; adopted son, Jerry Cogdell of Forest City; three brothers, George Williams (Marcell) of Shiloh, John Williams of Sharon, NC and James Williams (Frances) of Columbus and sister, Jane Blanton (Roger) of Sunny View, NC. He is also survived by two grandsons, Jason M. Hardin and John E. Hardin (Kristin Freeman), seven great-grandchildren, Lucas I. Hardin, Maliya F. Hardin, Jason C. Hardin, Makynzie L. Shires, Zachary G. Shires, Madison B. Hardin, Kathryn E. Hardin and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Glenn Davenport officiating. Military honors will be presented by Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
