Jerry Lee Powell, Sr.

Jerry Lee Powell, Sr., age 81, of Forest City, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Jerry was born Sunday, April 27, 1941 in Boone County, West Virginia to the late Paris Gilbert Powell and Mary Gladys Wilcoxen Powell. He worked in maintenance and as a production manager for Pepsi-Cola for forty years before retirement. Jerry enjoyed fishing, boating and working with his hands. He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Thomas Powell and a son-in-law, Wayne White.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Jane Powell-White of Winston-Salem and Betty Jo Hawkins (Gerard) of Elkton, Maryland and a son, Jerry Lee Powell, Jr. of Forest City; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Lawter and Anna Sue Jones; brothers, Glen Edwards Powell, Johnny Russell Powell, Larry Joe Powell and Robert Benton Powell. He is also survived by grandchildren, David Hodges, Jennifer Hodges Begin, Stephanie Wileman and four great-grandchildren, Kendal Hodges, Harvyn Begin, Meyer Begin and Aurbrie Bowden.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 16th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Inurnment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
