Jesse Kanipe

November 17, 1920 — February 9, 2007

Jesse Hoyle Kanipe, age 86, of Ellenboro, passed away Friday, February 9, 2007 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Jesse was born on November 17, 1920 in Cleveland County to the late Z. L. Kanipe and Jesse Belle Laughridge Kanipe. He had lived most of his life in Rutherford County. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army. After the war he returned to Rutherford County where he went to work for Stonecutter. He worked for Stonecutter for over 40 years eventually retiring as a weave room supervisor. He was Methodist in faith. He was a member of the Spindale Masonic Lodge and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star Mooresboro Chapter. He was an avid reader and loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his wife Janette in 1996 after 56 years of marriage. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Roberta Lee, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by three daughters, Shirley Moore and husband Charles of Mill Spring, NC, Clydean Lee and husband Joe of Gaffney, SC, and Marsha Byers and husband Dwight of Ellenboro; one sister, Hessie Bowman of Shelby, NC; two brothers, Clayton Kanipe of Dallas, NC, and Rev. Joe Kanipe of Cliffside. He is also survived by six grandchildren Shelby Barker, Renee Toney, Larry Lee, Eugene Lee, Jr., Melissa Lee, and Johnny Byers; and six great-grandchildren Jessica Toney, Chelsey Goldston, Meghan Lee, R. J. Lee, Rebecca Toney, and A. J. Lee.

Casketbearers will be Larry Lee, Eugene Lee, Jr., Johnny Byers, Tommy Toney, Michael Barker, and Preston Holland.
