Jim Goodwin, Sr., age 74, of Forest City, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Hospice or the Carolina Foothills.
Jim was born November 13, 1945 in Buncombe County to the late Ruby Evelyn Sinclair Goodwin. He was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1963 and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Jim was a welder most of his life and most recently worked for Thieman Steel Manufacturing in Ellenboro and South Co. Industries in Shelby. He attended Harmon Street Baptist Church and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald Goodwin and a great-grandson, Lukas Goodwin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Charlene Crook and husband, Terry of Gastonia; two sons, James Goodwin, Jr. and wife, Myra of Ellenboro and Douglas Goodwin and wife, Susan of Forest City. He is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A private family remembrance will be held on a future date.
