Jim Harris, age 83, of Shelby, NC died Monday, May 4, 2020 at Wendover Hospice.
Jim was born December 18, 1936 in Rutherford County to the late John Clifford Harris and Viola Enloe Harris. He worked many years in textiles, mostly at J.P. Stevens/Cleveland Cloth Mill and Stonecutter Mill. Jim was a “jack of all trades” who enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and yard work. He was dedicated to his family and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Brian Clifford Harris; two brothers, Richard and Bobby Harris and sisters, Doris Doggett and Geraldine Kurtz.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-three years, Brenda Mask Harris; special friends, Roby Henderson and Cindy Bevins of Lawndale, John Elliott, Karen Elliott and David Elliott of the New House Community; brother-in-law, John Kurtz of Bostic and three grandchildren, Brian Lane Harris, Brandon Treiglaff and Kayelynn Treiglaff. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews which includes a special niece, Lori Hester (Richard) of Cornelius, NC a grandniece, Belle Hester and grandnephew, Luke Hester and his special “Dialysis Family” at the DCI in Boiling Springs, NC.
A private gathering to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at Harrelson Funeral Home.
