Jimmy Hawkins, age 77, of Caroleen, died Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at his residence.
Jimmy was born March 6, 1942 in Rutherford County to the late Paul T. Hawkins and Madeyline “Matt” Scruggs Hawkins. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1960 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked in textiles for many years and retired from Reeves Brothers Mill. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Mooresboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-six years, Agnes Hawkins and sister, Jo Ann Hollifield.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Nigel Hawkins (Melissa) and Lonnie Hawkins (Dena) all of Caroleen; brother, Tim Hawkins of Caroleen; three grandchildren, Amanda Sherbert (Chris), Madeyline Hawkins, Cameron Hawkins and four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Addison, Joe and Brodie.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bo Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
