Jimmy Nelson Lowery, age 72, of Ellenboro, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Oak Grove Health Center in Rutherfordton.
Born November 4, 1945 in Spartanburg County, SC, he was a son of the late David Franklin Lowery and Floy McKelvey Lowery. Jimmy worked in textiles for many years and also cut pulp lumber for several years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed yard work and building things. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by three brothers, Homer, Hobert and Douglas Lowery and four sisters, Eloise Elliott, Gertrude Smith, Omagene Smith and Dovie Crowe.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty years, Geneva Doster Lowery; two sons, Johnny Lowery of Columbia, SC and Dylan Lowery of Ellenboro; two brothers, David Lowery of Lattimore and Charles Lowery (Linda) of Morganton; two sisters, Juanita Lowery Pickeral of Salisbury and Pauline Lowery Turner (Roger) of Lawndale. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Brett Haynes and Emily Carranza.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
