Jimmy "J.R." Ray Spurlock, Sr., age 72, of Old Henrietta Road, Forest City, died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
J.R. was born August 2, 1946 in Logan, West Virginia to the late Oscar Spurlock and Bessie Holstein Spurlock. He worked in construction for many years and owned and operated J & J White Stallion Salvage in Alexander Mills for several years. J.R. enjoyed fishing and four wheeling.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sons, Ricky Atkins of Lincoln County, West Virginia, Jimmy Spurlock, Jr. of Forest City and Johnathan Spurlock and wife, April of Ellenboro; one daughter, Susie Swink of Rutherfordton and a sister, Faye Atkins of Jeffrey, West Virginia. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Natalie Swink, Hannah Swink, Jessica Duncan, Megan Gregory, Destiny Edwards, Sabrina Spurlock and Patrick Spurlock; five great-grandchildren, Blake Duncan, Kaidyn Gregory, Gabriella Smith, Elly Mae Spurlock and Jethro Spurlock.
A private gathering to honor J.R.'s life will be held by the family.
