Jimmy Ray Lowery

Jimmy Ray Lowery, age 80, of Mooresboro, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.

Jimmy was born Monday, January 13, 1941 in Rutherford County to the late Virgil Lowery and Myrtle Padgett Lowery. He was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1959 and earned a business degree from Isothermal Community College. Jimmy served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked for Duke Energy for twenty years before his retirement and was the owner and operator of Discount Pool Supply/Ultra Pro Tanning in Forest City for many years. Jimmy was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Henrietta where he served as a deacon. He was an avid listener and supporter of many Southern Gospel groups. Most of all he was a dedicated grandpa. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed having good conversations with everyone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Lowery and a sister, Jolene McCameron.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Justin Lowery of Mooresboro; grandson, Malikhi Lowery; brother, Cotton Lowery (Judy) of Shelby; sister, Berry Dudley of Fort Mill, SC and a special friend and caretaker, Summer Thompson of Forest City.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend James Johnson officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
