Joan Taylor

Joan H. Taylor, age 79, of Henrietta, NC, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton.
Joan was born July 14, 1931 in Rutherford County to the late Otis Hicks and Ina Lockridge Hicks. She was a member of the Tri-High School Class of 1949 and worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart. She also worked for Shoney's and Hannah's Restaurants. She was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church and enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family. She was known for having a heart to help others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Arrie Robbins and three brothers, Max Hicks, Eugene Hicks and Charles Hicks.
Survivors include one daughter, Nanette Phillips of Henrietta; two sisters, Reba Ferree of High Point, NC and Jane Hamrick of Kemah, TX; two grandchildren, Jimmy Phillips of Caroleen and Donna Buchanan of Ontario, Canada; three great-grandchildren, Teri Goforth, Garrett Buchanan and Eric Buchanan; two great-great grandchildren, Mackenzie Phillips, Nathaniel Goforth and several nieces and nephews.
