Joe Dean Pritchard, 67, of Cliffside, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Raleigh and Evelyn Pritchard, and also preceded in death by a brother, Tony Pritchard. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War.
Joe was a former law enforcement officer beginning his career with Spindale Fire & Police, and was also employed by Forest City Police Department for a number of years. He then worked for Pinkerton Security in Charlotte, where he retired as a captain over all security personal for Duke Power Company. Following his retirement, he was employed as a salesman with First Industrial Supply, Spindale.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Pritchard of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, LaJuanda and Jason Bond of Asheville; a number of friends, nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, Buddy.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Harrelson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bob Philbeck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
