John Esper Dedmon, age 86, of Morganton, NC, went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 6, 2011 due to declining health.
Esper was born in Lincoln County, NC to the late Fred and Annie Mae Dedmon and later moved to Rutherford County, where he resided over 50 years in Harris. He had lived in Morganton the past several years with his wife, Ethel. He was a retired textile worker, carpenter, Ice Man and was of the Baptist faith.
Esper was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by his first wife, Flora Virginia Sanders Dedmon and their son, Kenneth Donald Dedmon.
Survivors from his first marriage include a granddaughter, Virginia Ann 'Ginny' Dedmon Clarke and husband, Ray, and a great grandson, Kenneth Roy Blanton all of Morganton; two step-grandchildren Tammy Bailey and Michael Murray both Rutherfordton. He is also survived by his second wife, Ethel Dedmon and step-daughter, Dessie Fite of Morganton; three grandchildren, Tommie Fite and wife, Anna, Andy Fite and wife, Juanita and Kristen Fite all of Morganton. Other survivors include several great grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, and a number of nieces and nephews.
