John Hoppes

John E. Hoppes, Sr, age 67, of Ellenboro, passed away Monday, May 28, 2007 at the Rutherford Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Hoppes was born February 14, 1940 in Rutherford County to the late Graham Vance Hoppes and Ella Mae Jones Hoppes. He had served in the North Carolina Army National Guard. He had been a life-long resident of Rutherford County having worked with Harrill Brothers Wholesalers as a salesperson for several years. He had also worked as a licensed insurance agent for Liberty Life Insurance and Western-Southern Insurance. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, James Hoppes; four sisters, Judith, Ann, Ruth, and Linda Mae Hoppes; and by two grandchildren Carl Dean Hoppes and Cindy Sue Wilson.

Mr. Hoppes is survived by three sons, Craig Hoppes of Casar, NC, Johnny Hoppes, Jr. of Bostic, and Michael Hoppes of Ellenboro, NC; four daughters, Norma Laws of Forest City, Renee Green of Bostic, Dana Hughes of Ellenboro, and Nikki Hoppes of Forest City; three sisters, Kay Peeler of Bostic, Patty King of North Dakota, and Wannell Childs of Ellenboro; one brother, Jack Hoppes of Bostic. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He also leaves behind two former spouses Diane Hoppes Morrow of 30 years and Elizabeth Fisher Lovelace of 9 years.
