John Holland

John 'Jay' Holland, age 71, of Rosedale Drive, Forest City, died Monday, December 26, 2011 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
John was born October 9, 1940 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Archie Holland, Sr. and Hester Keeter Holland. He worked as a supervisor for the Elmore Corporation for 33 years. He also worked for Spartan Security and was a carrier for the Daily Courier. He attended Harmon Street Baptist Church and enjoyed horseshoes, playing cards. He especially loved spending time with his family and was a dedicated caretaker of his wife, Jane.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tommy Holland, Archie Holland, Jr., Bobby Holland, Frank Holland and one sister, Mammie Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Holland; two daughters, Lisa Hodge and Wendy Carpenter both of Forest City; three grandchildren, Diane Hodge, Buffy Hodge, April Schronce and four great grandchildren; two brothers, Daizel Holland of Spindale, Steve Holland of Lake Lure and one sister, Pat Holland of TX. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Glenda Short and Joanne Cogdell both of Henrietta; two step-sons, Rodney Cogdell of Anderson, SC and Michael Cogdell of Henrietta and nine step-grandchildren.
