John McGuire, age 74, of Forest City, NC, died Friday, July 19, 2019.
John was born May 13, 1945 in Spartanburg County, SC to the late James McGuire and Flora Hogan McGuire. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1965 and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. John worked for Duke Power for nineteen years and for DSI Transport in Wellford, SC. He later worked at Robbins Brick and Block until his retirement. John was a faithful member of Henrietta First Baptist Church where he served on the Buildings and Grounds Committee. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed reading and yardwork. He was known for his sense of humor and his love for his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher McGuire.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-eight years, Glenda Wells McGuire; two daughters, Tracy McGuire Blanton (Brad) of Forest City and Kelly McGuire Hargett (Jason) of Kernersville, NC; five granddaughters, Taylor Blanton Harris (Lee) of Ellabell, Georgia, Haley Blanton of Johnson City, TN, Paige Blanton of Forest City, Laney Hargett and Kayson Hargett both of Kernersville. He is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Bradley (Robert) of Mooresboro and Nancy Melton (Lloyd) of Bostic.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Henrietta First Baptist Church with Reverend Jamie Johnson and John Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
