John William "Bill" Turner, age 73, of Jefferson Road, Mooresboro, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born on Sunday, April 4, 1943 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Samuel Andrew Turner and Bertha Millwood Turner. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Elmore Pisgah Mill in Spindale for many years and was a past member of Glenwood Baptist Church and a current longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church. Bill enjoyed collecting various types of farm equipment, gardening and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Doris Terry Turner; three sisters, Sarah Turner, Frances Rowe, Jean Callahan and brother, Ray Turner.
Survivors include one son, David Turner and wife, Sandy of Mooresboro; a daughter, Frances "Cissy" Turner Clary also of Mooresboro; one sister, Betty Jo Greathouse of Forest City and brother, Marshall Turner of Bostic. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jacob Clary, Victoria Turner, Joshua Clary, Valerie Turner and Wade Turner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Glenwood Baptist Church with Reverend Owen Duncan and Reverend Robert Lane officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
