Johnnie Pope

Johnnie S. Pope, 78, of 341 Centennial Road, Rutherfordton, NC, died Saturday, June 07, 2008 at his home.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late John Newberry Pope and Cora Lee Ford Pope. He was also preceded in death by one brother Ted Pope. He worked as a weaver in the textile mills and was a US Army veteran. He was a faithful member of Fork Creek Baptist Church, enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to fish.
Johnnie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jo Cogdell Pope; one son, Johnny Wayne Pope of Rutherfordton, NC; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Totoritis and her husband Paul of Bostic, NC. He is also survived by two grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, David Pope; three sisters, Christine Harrill, Frances Neal and Edith Charles.
