Johnny Henson, age 68, of Mooresboro, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Johnny was born Tuesday, June 9, 1953 in Rutherford County to the late Whitey Henson and Olema Henson Toney.  He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1971. He worked as a self-employed auto body technician for most of his life and recently worked for Wares Auto Body Repair for several years. He was a member of Goodes Creek Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. Johnny had the distinction of working with the Jimmy Means Racing Team in NASCAR. Along with car racing, he enjoyed fishing and coaching Youth League baseball and basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Toney and a granddaughter, Dakota Degree.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of eighteen years, Kim Henson; children, Tracy Rushing (Chris) of Dallas, NC, Travis Henson (Pam) of Ellenboro, Britt Holland (Alicia) of Forest City and Brandon Holland (Natalie) of Bostic; brother, Rick Henson (Becky) of Mooresboro. He is also survived by ten grandchildren which includes a special granddaughter, Kaylie Holland.

A Celebration of Johnny’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on December 4, 2021 at the home of Rick Henson, 224 Grover Scruggs Road, Mooresboro, NC  28114.
