Johnson William Butler, age 87, of Charlotte, NC, died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House.
Born November 26, 1927 in Columbus County, NC, he was a son of the late Zara Butler and Ruby Williams Butler. J.W. was a graduate of Acme-Delco High School and served during World War II in the US Army. He owned and operated Butler's TV Repair Shop in Charlotte for many years. He was always interested in learning new technologies, which included the Morse code, Ham Radios and being introduced to the computer at the age of 82. He also enjoyed listening to music and watching old movies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-eight years, Betty F. Butler; son Donald Gene Butler; one brother, Zara Butler, Jr. two sisters, Ada Arlene Ward and Myrtle Mae Squires.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Wayne Butler of Gainesville, FL and Mark Dean Butler of Whiteville, NC. He is also survived by his niece and caretaker, Mary Driggers and husband, Richard of Hawthorne, FL.
Interment will be private in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery and a service is being planned for a late date.
