Joseph "Joe" Brown

Joseph “Joe” Brown, age 84, of Rutherfordton, passed away May 10, 2021 at his residence.  Joe was born Monday, May 3, 1937 in Rutherford County to the late Joe Brown and Mary L. Arrowood Brown. In his early years, he worked in the sawmill and later worked at Broyhill Industries for over thirty-four years before retirement. He was a faithful and longtime member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed fishing, pitching horseshoes, gardening, raising chickens and was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan. He loved his family dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, G.B. Brown and Doyle Brown and an infant brother, Joe Charles Brown and a sister, Violet Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Helen Wright Brown; two daughters, Sharon Brown Francois (Richard) of Ruth and Rhonda Brown Sisk (Dean) of Rutherfordton; a son, Danny Brown (Cynthia) of Rutherfordton; two brothers, Arnold Brown (Audrey) of Rutherfordton and Leon Brown (Joyce) of Alto, Georgia; three sisters, Lena Mae Hudgins (Wesley), Edith Alley and Hattie Edwards (Charles) all of Rutherfordton; six grandchildren, Crystal Travis, Daniel Brown (Devyn), Dustin Brown (Kirsten), Richard Francois, Tiffany Sisk, Brandon Sisk (Brittany) and four great-grandchildren, Natalie Smith, Zoey Brown, Brentley Sisk and Leo Sisk.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Reverend Chad Sisk, Reverend Leon Brown and Reverend Buddy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 pm at the church. At other times they will be gathered at 402 Rob Long Road, Rutherfordton.
