Joyce Cabe

Joyce Dobbins Powell Cabe, age 78, of Dobbinsville, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born August 9, 1928 in Rutherford County to the late Cletus Dobbins and Olema Henson Dobbins. She was a life-long resident of Rutherford County. She retired from the textile mills as a weaver. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church Henrietta. She and her second husband Johnnie Cabe owned and operated J and J Rugs in Dobbinsville. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Claude William Powell in 1970, and Johnnie Cabe in 1998. She was also preceded in death by a son Roger Powell in 1978.

She is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Powell Hopper of Rutherfordton, NC, Mary Jo Powell Poole and husband Ted of Ellenboro, and Cindy Powell Byers and husband Stuart of Green Hill, NC; two brothers, Fred Dobbins of Paducah, KY, and Yates Dobbins of Columbia, SC; one sister Gladys Dobbins Hollifield of Anderson, SC; eight grandchildren, Tim Hopper, Barbara Smith Carrouth, Ginger Smith Parker, April Powell, Judson Byers, Etta Byers Shehee, Rachel Byers, and Caleb Byers; 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
