Joyce Downey

Joyce Deyton Downey, age 57, of 194 Quinn Road, Caroleen died August 11, 2008 at her home after an extended illness.
Born in Spartanburg County, SC on February 14, 1951 to John Hubert Deyton and Eloise Parton Deyton she was a life-long resident of Rutherford County. She worked as a weaver for Cone Mills and was a long-time member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father; one brother, James Deyton and one sister, Louise Deyton.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Thomas Downey of Hickory, NC, and Steven Downey and his wife Nicole of Shelby, NC; three brothers, John Deyton, Jr. of Roebuck, SC, Jerry Deyton and his wife Teresa of Gainesville, GA and Scott Deyton and his wife Louise of Caroleen; two sisters, Carolyn Killian and her husband James of Union Mills and Betty White and her husband Freddie of Mooresboro; one granddaughter, Loni Downey and 10 nieces and nephews.
