Joyce Padgett

Joyce W. Padgett, age 82, of Caroleen, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at her residence.

Joyce was born April 26, 1937 in Rutherford County to the late George Robert Wilkie and Esther Greene Wilkie. She was the Postmaster for Caroleen for over 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. Joyce enjoyed cooking for her family, listening to music, was an accomplished pianist an avid reader. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Howard Y. Padgett; an infant daughter; one son, Howard Wayne Padgett; two grandchildren, Lisa Grayson, Patrick Padgett and a sister, Frances “Libby” Phillips.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Sherry Ramsey (Samuel) of Forest City and Deborah Murray (John) of Caroleen; four grandchildren, Shelley R. Hutchins (Jimmy) of Forest City, Robert Ramsey (Wendee) of Forest City, Christopher Grayson (Nicole) of Gastonia and Amy M. Brown (Chris) of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Frances Kimbrell of Spartanburg; ten great-grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
