J.P. Junior Bailey

J. P. Junior Bailey, age 92, of Rutherfordton, passed away, Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his residence.

J. P. was born Monday, March 17, 1930 in Rutherford County to the late George Bailey and Ruth Hardin Bailey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and of the Baptist faith. J.P. worked many years for AGI Manufacturing and for Stonecutter Mill. He enjoyed farming and gardening. J.P. always had a willingness to help others. He was known for his warm smile and the love he had for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Irene Dixon Bailey; son, Scott Bailey; brothers, Clifford, Roy, Dennis and Jake Bailey and a sister, Barbara Randolph.

Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife, Vonnie Bailey; son, Dean Bailey (Annie) of Lyman, SC; daughter-in-law, Sherry Bailey of Rutherfordton; grandchildren, Justin Bailey and Tyler Bailey; great-grandchild, Sheridan Bailey; brothers, George Bailey of Sunshine Community and Norman Bailey of Boiling Springs, NC; sisters, Jean Bailey of Boiling Springs, NC and Pam Thomas of Gaffney, SC.

Due to the prediction of inclement weather, a committal service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 9th in the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
