Judy Gordon Cole

Judy Gordon Cole, age 74, of Rutherfordton, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Holly Springs Senior Citizens Home.

Judy was born Friday, September 10, 1948 in Rutherford County to the late Roland Gordon and Zella Vess Gordon. She was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1966 and received an Associate’s degree from Isothermal Community College. Judy worked as a cosmetologist for several years and in textiles. She was the office manager for many years at Cleveland Memorial Park. Judy loved Southern Gospel music and enjoyed singing with the Gordon Family Singers. She also enjoyed shopping and cooking for her family and friends. Judy was a faithful member of the Christian Fellowship Church (Sisk Memorial Missionary Methodist Church). She loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her lifelong companion, James McDaniel; a brother, Merlin Gordon and sister-in-law, Beverly Gordon.

Left to cherish fond memories are her son, Jason Cole (Melissa) of Landrum, SC; daughter, Tracey Byars (Chuck) of Rutherfordton; brothers, Glenn Gordon (Pat) of Greenville, SC, Troy Gordon (Carolyn) of Caroleen, Kenneth Gordon of Sandy Mush and a sister, Yvonne Lawson (Larry) of Bostic. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kyle Byars (Amber), Jonathan Byars (Sabrina), Lindsey Heywood (Aaron), Laila Cole, J.R. Cole; three great-grandchildren, Landon Byars, Tobeigh Byars, Kyleigh Byars and a number of beloved nephews and nieces.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 28th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Caroleen Henrietta Avondale Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
