Junior Womack, age 95, of Anderson, SC formerly of Ellenboro, NC passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the Richard M. Campbell Veteran’s Home in Anderson.
Junior was born Saturday, December 25, 1926 in Polk County to the late Collette R. Womack and Olar Byers Womack. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served honorably during World War II. Junior worked as a correctional officer for the NC Department of Corrections until his retirement. He also owned and operated J.C. Enterprises. He was a gun and knife and Ford Mustang enthusiast. Junior was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Mill Spring.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Iris Rose Womack and second wife, Betty Louis Clark Womack; a son, Jeffery Womack and several brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish fond memories are his two brothers, Wayne Womack of Texas and Johnny Womack of Forest City; son, Richard Womack of Mill Spring and stepson, Gary Clark (Nell) of Piedmont, SC.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ned Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Lebanon UMC Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
