Keith Jones, age 55, of Rutherfordton, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. Keith was born Saturday, April 16, 1966 in Rutherford County to Druary and Francis Jones who reside in Ellenboro. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1984. Keith faithfully served as the Assistant Fire Chief for the SDO Fire Department for many years. He worked as an equipment operator for Sisk Grading for twenty-five years. Keith was a past member of Grace Chapel of Forest City and presently a member of Father’s Vineyard. He loved the Lord and was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. Keith enjoyed spending time with his family and taking care of his pet dog, Roger. He made an impact on each life he touched and heard his Heavenly Father say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”
He was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Keeter.
Besides his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Rita Hoppes Jones; children, Renee Taft (Chuck) of Marshall, NC, April Lynn (Jeff) of Forest City, Brookley Baker of Sevierville, TN and son, Clifton Baker of Bostic; siblings, Scott Jones of Ellenboro, Linda Kay Roland of Ellenboro and Mike Jones (Deanna) of Ellenboro. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Ceili Taft, Lillie Vickers, Gabriel Vickers, Jeffrey Lynn and Mackenzie Lynn.
The funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Father’s Vineyard with Reverend Terry Howell, Reverend Ricky Poteat and Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating. Interment with Fire Fighter Honors will be held at the Alexander Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday at Father’s Vineyard. The family requests that social distancing be observed, and masks be worn at each service.
