Kenneth Woods

Kenneth Woods, age 69, of Union Mills, NC, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Hospice House in Forest City, NC.
Kenneth was born on November 5, 1940 in Orange County, Florida to the late Red Woods and Ruby Hilliard Woods. He served in the US Air Force as a Russian Language Translator and was a graduate of the University of Central Florida. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years as a Postal Clerk before his retirement. He also worked for the State of Florida Unemployment Office and the Orlando Sentinel as a tele-type operator. He was an avid softball player, 50's and 60's LP record collector, enjoyed pitching horseshoes and gardening. He attended the Mountain View Baptist Church in Rutherfordton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Tim Woods.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Laura Platt Woods; one daughter, Karen Woods Brown of Union Mills; three grandsons, Luke Westerman, Derrick Brown and Jacob Brown; three sisters, Rita W. Bennett and Mildred Moore both of Orlando, FL and Sandra Schauer of Delaware, RI.
