L. Toney

L. C. Toney, Jr., age 80, of Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Forest City, NC passed away Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Rutherford Hospital. He was born July 30, 1928 in Rutherford County to the late Lonnie Clifford Toney, Sr. and Maudie Haulk Toney. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Honeycutt Toney, two sisters, Virginia Toney and Ruth Morgan, and a brother, Max Toney. He worked in the textile mills all of his adult life before retiring as a supervisor in 1989. He was a life time member of Florence Baptist Church in Forest City, NC. Mr. Toney also built doll houses and collected dolls.

He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Bridwell and husband Walter of Forest City, NC and Kathy Elmore and husband Jerry of Cliffside, NC; one son, James Toney and wife Sissy of Forest City, NC and one brother, Bill Toney of Fayetteville, NC; nine grandchildren, Toni Haley, Angie Archer, Virginia Morrow, Carrie Bridwell, Tim Elmore, Megan Waddell, Nicholas Elmore, Cliff Toney, and Harlee Toney; and 12 great grandchildren, Bradley Haley, Mary Beth Haley, Aly Bridwell, Addison Archer, Tripp Bridwell, Dakota Morrow, Henry Elmore, Imogen Elmore, Isabel Elmore, Haley Elmore, Mark Waddell, and Natasha Elmore.
