Lala Lane, age 82, formerly of Caroleen, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.
Lala was born October 14, 1937 in Rutherford County and was the youngest of twelve children born to the late John Lane and Alma Frazier Lane. She worked at Lane’s Restaurant in Caroleen for several years and then followed her heart to be a Caregiver at the Forest Lake Retirement Home for many years. She truly had a God given gift to love and care for others. She later would give support to ailing family members and assist those who needed home healthcare. Recently, she was a resident at Elmcroft of Shelby where she enjoyed playing bingo and crafts. While at Elmcroft, she built lasting friendships with her roommate, Michael and the entire staff. Lala especially enjoyed cooking for her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Lane Ervin; granddaughter, Morgen Ervin; eleven brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her granddaughter, Michelle Whiteside Meyer (Wayne) of Tega Cay, SC and grandson, Tim Whiteside of Caroleen; her two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Christian Meyer; special niece, Sheila Mitchem (Wayne) of Forest City and a son-in-law, James Whiteside of Caroleen.
