Larry Jones

Larry I. Jones, age 70, of Ellenboro, NC, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at his residence.
Larry was born September 8, 1941 in Rutherford County, NC to the late James Irvin Jones and Mary Ellen Hamrick. He was a graduate of Ellenboro High School, class of 1961 and a US Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Army Reserves for over 29 years. Larry worked as a mechanic for Overnite Freight Company and UPS for 28 years and a member of Woodmen of the World. He was a member of the Forest City Masonic Lodge #381 for 25 years and a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was a longtime member of Corinth Baptist Church and enjoyed collecting clocks, working on and collecting cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Grant and Carol Galloway.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Nancy Rash Jones; one son, Michael Larry Jones and wife, Chasity of Ellenboro; one daughter, Anissa Roberts and husband, Rick of Asheville. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Stephen Jones, Caleb Jones, Alex McCurry, Rachel Roberts and Ryan Roberts.
