Lawrence Hodge, age 81, of Rutherfordton, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Lawrence was born Monday, September 9, 1940 in Rutherford County to the late Esper Hodge and Katherine Laughter Hodge. He was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1960. Lawrence was a gifted Master Carpenter and worked in construction most of his life. He loved woodworking and shared his gift of carpentry with family and friends in building personal items for them. He was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church and enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting and bird watching. Lawrence loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Boyce and Dolphus Hodge and a stepdaughter, Vickey Pardo.
Left to cherish fond memories are his wife of thirty-eight years, Gerelene S. Hodge; siblings, Rebecca Gibson (Aaron) of Seaford, Virginia and Tommy Hodge (Diane) of Rutherfordton; children, Eddie Hodge (Jessica) of Spindale, Debbie Gantwerk (Eric) of Tega Cay, SC, Scott Hodge (Meredith) of Cummings, Georgia and Pam Spurlin (Barry) of Mooresboro; stepson, Dean Redmon (Karen) of Leicester, NC. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Jessica, Shannon, Fonda, Amber, Victoria, Josiah, Aubrey, Emily, Julia, Braxton, Kayla and Kelsey; eleven great-grandchildren, Angelica, Josh, Jonas, Jamaris, Justice, Azrael, Zane, Theron, Ryker, Cody and Tucker.
A celebration of life service will be private for the family.
