Lillie Owens

Lillie "Winnie" Owens, age 87, of Coffey Road, Forest City, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Hospice House in Forest City.
Born on Thursday, July 14, 1929 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Sidney Lewis Coffey and Aquilla Quinn Hunt Coffey. Winnie worked for Burlington Industries-J.C. Cowan Plant for many years before retirement. She was a longtime and faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Winnie was a dedicated housekeeper and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. She especially loved spending time with her special friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Crawford Eugene Owens; one son, David Owens and daughter, Brenda Goode.
Survivors include two sisters, Bonnie Smith of Columbia, SC and Dorothy "Dot" Jones and husband, Myles of Mooresboro; brother, Sidney Lewis Coffey, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Winter Garden, FL; two grandchildren, Joel Owens and Rachel Marcengill and husband, Timothy all of Spartanburg and daughter-in-law, Patti Owens also of Spartanburg. She is also survived by a special friend, Dorothy Buckner of Forest City and six nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Philbeck and Reverend Owen Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

The family wishes to personally thank Raina Crowder, Hospice Nurse, and CNA Sheila Wilkerson for all of their love and care given to Winnie during her illness.
