Lucy Hampton

Lucy Hampton, age 87, of Green Hill, died Sunday, September 5, 2010 at her daughter's residence.
Lucy was born on January 31, 1923 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Columbus Mills Doty and Lillie Norville Doty. She was a long time member of Green Hill Baptist Church and worked as a weaver for Stonecutter Mills for over 25 years. She enjoyed cooking, yard work, flower gardening and caring for animals, but her life's pleasure was taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Willie Hampton; two brothers, Benjamin Doty, Robert Doty and one sister, Ola Doty.
Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Hampton and wife, Kathy, of Forest City and David Hampton and wife, Lisa, of Union, SC; one daughter, Barbara Conner and husband, Jack, of Caroleen; one sister, Lois Waters of Forest City. She is also survived by three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
