Lydia Muriel Pearson Gosey, age 87, of Forest City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 22, 2018.
Muriel was born on August 30, 1931 the second daughter of Della and Broadus Pearson. She is predeceased by her two sisters, Doris Baber and Edith Wells. Muriel married Fred Eugene Gosey in 1949 and two years later they welcomed their only son Michael Scott Gosey on June 2, 1951. Fred passed away on February 19, 1993.
She was a lifelong resident of Forest City where she graduated from high school. She had been an active member of Goodes Creek Baptist Church for over 30 years and has blessed many through her organ playing. Muriel had many talents, and a varied professional life, including running her own successful business. Her unfailing generosity and kind heart has touched the lives of many who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a wonderful mother-in-law, as well as a loyal friend who will be missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Michael and Vivian Gosey, and her three grandsons Chris, Nathan, and Stefan as well as her four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bill Baber and a nephew, Barry Baber and niece, Nickie Hamrick.
A memorial service will be held at Goodes Creek Baptist Church (453 Goodes Creek Church Road, Mooresboro, NC 28114) on Saturday, December 1, 2018. The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm in the church fellowship hall with the memorial service being conducted at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary. Reverend Glenn Walker and Reverend Hubert Street will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that any donations be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 or to Goodes Creek Baptist Church, P.O. Box 720, Cliffside, NC 28024.
