Manning Brooks Mahaffee Sr., age 69, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia.
Manning was born January 10, 1944 in Charlotte, NC to the late James S. Mahaffee, Sr. and Elizabeth Small Mahaffee. Manning served in the US Army from 1966 - 68 and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the Vietnam War. He worked as a dispatcher and retired from CSX Transportation in Jacksonville, Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Mahaffee and brother, James S. Mahaffee, Jr.
Survivors include his son Manning Brooks Mahaffee, Jr, of Carrabelle, FL..; one daughter, Kristi M. Weeks and husband, Chris of Helena, Georgia; one sister, Francis M. Black and one brother, Charles R. Mahaffee. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Lyndsey Mahaffee, Colin Weeks, Kayla Weeks and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Caroleen-Henrietta- Avondale Cemetery with Reverend David Hawkins officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service at the cemetery.
