Marie “Maw Maw” Ledford, age 76, of Henrietta, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 15, 2019.
Marie was born January 11, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late Tom Cole and Peggy “Nannie Lou” Griffin. She worked for Dover Mill in Shelby for many years and as a waitress for Greene’s Restaurant. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Marie enjoyed cleaning, gardening and doing any type of outdoor work. She especially loved taking care of her grandchildren. She was loved by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Randy Gene Painter; a daughter, Glenice Frank; three brothers, Cardel Bright, James Bright and Walter Griffin; sister, Mary Jane Turner and a granddaughter, Summer Painter.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of forty-two years, Larry Ledford; daughter, Becky Cook of Bostic; two sons, Larry Painter (Amega) of Bostic and William Painter of Spindale; three sisters, Minnie Brown of Forest City, Faye Talent of Spindale and Louise Harris of Morganton; brother, Odell Bright of Spindale; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter, Adalynn Monteith.
The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Temple Baptist Church with Reverend Jesse Hardin, Reverend Robert Harris and Mr. Kevin Street officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
