Marie Smith

Marie Smith, age 79, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Marie was born May 22, 1941 in Rutherford County to the late Clyde Ramsey and Ruth Grace Mayse Ramsey. She worked in textiles for many years and was a member of Wilson Baptist Church. Her life’s passion was taking care of and spending time with her grandkids. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Smith and a sister, Mary Ann Gilreth.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Lisa Koone (Shannon) of Union Mills, Lora Cole of Rutherfordton and Doris Smith of Port Charlotte, Florida; two sons, Edward Ramsey of Rutherfordton and Donald A. Smith (Christine Pych) of Guilford, Vermont; sisters, Lola Mae Morrow (Tommy) of Sunshine, Betty Richards (Frank) of Inman, SC and Helen Turner (Frank) of Caroleen; brothers, Bobby Ramsey of Morganton, James Ramsey of Spindale, Junior Ramsey of Sunshine, Jerry Ramsey (Cheryl) of Sunshine and Wayne Ramsey (Carol) of Sunshine. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Billy Bostic officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Masks and Social Distancing are required by all attendees.
