Mark Champion

Mark Champion, age 50, of Ellenboro, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at Mission Health-Asheville.

Mark was born Saturday, March 24, 1973 in Rutherford County to the late Steve Henry Champion, Sr. and Katie Greenlee Champion. He worked as a service manager for Superior Plus Propane in Asheville for many years and was a current member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Mark enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid golfer. He was a friend to all and never met a stranger. Mark’s likable and outgoing personality endeared him to those who knew him.

     Survivors include his wife of twenty-two years, Crystal Champion; daughter, Kaitlyn Champion; son, Kyle Mark Champion; sister, Maria Hudson (Grady) of Ellenboro; brothers, Jeff Champion of Cliffside and Steve Champion (Dannielle) of Ellenboro. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

     The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 22^nd at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Philbeck, Reverend Greg Qualls and Reverend Randy Heffner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
