Marshall Simmons, age 60, of Ellenboro, NC, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Marshall was born April 20, 1953 in Spartanburg County, SC to the late George P. Simmons and Edna Skinner Simmons. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1972 and worked in textiles most of his life. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Forest City and enjoyed fishing, going to flea markets and NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Ann Arrowood Simmons and one brother, Thomas Ray Simmons.
Survivors include five step-sons, Steve K. Roper and wife, Lisa and Sean P. Roper all of Forest City, Donald S. Roper and wife, Trena of Boiling Springs, SC, Gray S. Roper and wife, Melinda and Greg D. Roper all of Rutherfordton; three brothers, Jerry Simmons and wife, Ann of Iron Station, NC, Bobby Simmons and wife, Martha, William Simmons and wife, Rhonda all of Clover, SC; two sisters, Jean Hardin and David Harmon of Rutherfordton and Marie Adams and husband, Bob of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Neil Haynes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place on a later date.
