Martha Shew

Martha Henson Shew, age 76, of Ellenboro, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Mary Black Health System-Spartanburg.
Born May 11, 1941 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Jack Henson and Sarah Dyer Henson. Martha worked in textiles for many years and retired from the new Cone Mills plant in Cliffside. She had the heart of a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and taking care of children. Martha was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis "Slim" Shew; two brothers, Bobby Henson and Junior Henson.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Renee Morris and life companion, Tracy White of Forest City; one son, Michael Shew of Ellenboro; one sister, Hazel Francis of Forest City; brother, Mack Henson and wife, Sadie Ruth Henson also of Ellenboro and a special nephew Ronald Henson of Ellenboro. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ashley Hardin (Brent), Hunter Shew and Molly Shew; two step-grandchildren, Traisha Campfield and Taryn White.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Wayne Powell officiating. Interment will follow in the Alexander Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
