Martha "Lib" Tate, age 87, of Morrow Motor Road, Forest City, died Monday, March 9, 2015 at Oak Grove Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 7, 1927 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Grady S. Crawley and Celia Ledbetter Crawley. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1945 and a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Floyd's Creek Baptist Church and served as the Primary Class Sunday School Teacher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Max W. Tate; one sister, Joyce Harrill; one brother, Max Crawley and grandson, Daniel Greene.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Tate of Forest City; two daughters, Linda Greene and husband, Richard of Boiling Springs, NC and Maxine Forrest and partner, Randy Schaffer of Maryland; three sisters, Jackie Price and Lillian Silvers both of Forest City and Carol Moser and husband, Joe of Bloomington, Indiana. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Don Hawkins, Mark Hawkins, Angie Oliver; three step-grandchildren, Debbie Greene, Terri McCurry and Lisa Faile; four great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Floyd's Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Carnell and Reverend Shane Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
