Martin Wayne Byers

Martin Wayne Byers, age 73, of Forest City, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.

Martin was born Thursday, January 6, 1949 in Rutherford County to the late James L. Byers and Tina Haeg Byers. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1967 and also attended Gardner-Webb University. Martin worked for Cone Mills-Avondale Plant for many years and most recently worked for Thieman Manufacturing Technologies in Ellenboro. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandkids. He leaves a legacy of being a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. Many would see him each day faithfully walking his pet dog, “King.”

Left to cherish fond memories are his wife of forty-three years, Anita Byers; daughter, Natalie Lynch (Alan) of Forest City; son, Justin Byers (Becky Cole) of Forest City; grandchildren, Garrett Byers, Kaylan Lynch and Grayson Lynch; sisters, Teresa Vaughn of Boiling Springs, NC, Brenda Hendrix of Bostic, Kim Smith (Reggie) of the Shiloh Community and his uncle, Garland Byers of Forest City and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating.  Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
