Mary Sue Dotson

Mary Sue Dotson, age 94, of Caroleen, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.

Mary was born Friday, September 5, 1930 in Lincoln County to the late John Greene and Lilly Davis Greene. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved taking care of her family. Mary worked for Stonecutter Mill for several years and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Ernest R. Dotson; a son, Lonnie Dotson; grandchildren, Rhonda Jones and Tracy Dotson; sister, Gertrude Evans and brother, Leroy Greene.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carrie Adair (Albert) of Ellenboro, Teresa Lynn Dotson of Caroleen, Lisa Metcalf (Randy) of Marion; son, Donnie Dotson of Forest City; grandchildren, Dawn Waters (Chris), Donna Short (Tracy), Miranda Owens, Jackie Roper (Micky Garner), Jeff Dotson (Shayne), Brandon Metcalf (Chayla), Candy Metcalf (Ricky), Crissy Porter (Jeremy), Scott Dotson (Tracy), Tammy Bowen (Bobby); nineteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 4th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
