Matilda Jackson

Matilda 'Tilda' Jackson, age 96, of Caroleen, NC, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Autumn Care. She was born in Rutherford County on February 14, 1912 to the late Milo G. Hawkins and Alice Elizabeth Phillips Hawkins. She was a lifetime member of Caroleen Baptist Church and worked in the textile mills for over 38 years. She was dedicated to the Democrat Party and enjoyed working on puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank Hawkins, Perry Hawkins, Paul Hawkins, Howard Hawkins and James Hawkins; two sisters, Vera Parker and Madaline Hawkins.
She is survived by one daughter, Martha Sellers and her husband Bob of Forest City; two sons, Leonard Jackson and his wife Mary Lou of Forest City and Morris Jackson and his wife Sherry of Caroleen; one brother, Robert Hawkins of Lincolnton, NC; six grandchildren, Rita Byers, Nita Roberts, Tammy Thomassen, Greg Jackson, Tony Jackson and Kimberly Propst; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
