Matthew Shires

Matthew Ryan Shires, age 20, of Ellenboro, died Friday, January 5, 2018 in at his residence.
Born December 1, 1997 in Rutherford County, he was the son of Mary Gunter and the late Everett Shires, Jr. He attended the Rock School and enjoyed working on cars, weightlifting and spending time with his family and was a loving father.
Those left to cherish his memory include his adopted mother and father, Crystal Shires Hamrick of Shelby and Scott Ruppe of Ellenboro; one son, Jace Ryan Shires; fiancé, Elizabeth Marie Elliott; grandmother, June Gunter of Morganton; four sisters, Sandi Moore of Mooresboro, Brandi Ruppe of Ellenboro, Danielle Ruppe of Forest City and Patty Shires of Ellenboro; three brothers, Randy, Tommy and Roger Shires all of Ellenboro.
A private family gathering will be held to honor his memory.
