Matthew “Pew” Bennett, Sr., age 58, of Forest City passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Matthew was born December 4, 1961 in Rutherford County to the late William J. Bennett and Jackie Smith Bennett. He worked as a commercial painter for many years. Matthew was known as a “Chevy Man” and enjoyed working on cars. He had a great sense of humor and especially loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Matthew Bennett, Jr. (Alisha) of Forest City; two daughters, Misti Bennett Willis (Matthew) of Cliffside and Autumn Paige Marie Bennett (Darian Gilbert) of Forest City; sister, Sherry Bennett Gilliam of Forest City and brother, Mark Bennett (Paula) of Forest City. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ryan Bennett, Caleb Bennett, Jace Matthew Baylin, Jason Willis, Jenna Willis, Payten Gilbert and Darian Gilbert, Jr.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
