Maude Holland Toney, age 87, of Forest City died Saturday, January 6, 2007 in a local nursing home. Maude was born October 17, 1919 in Spindale, North Carolina to the late John C. Holland and Eliza A. McKinney Holland. She had retired from Stonecutter Mill where she had worked as a spinner. She later worked for Key Largo in Sandy Mush. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church. She was also an avid reader. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband T.B. Toney; and a son Grayson Toney.
She is survived by her two sons, Sid Toney and his wife Gail, and Dave Toney and his wife Judy both of Forest City, NC; one brother, Baxter C. Holland and his wife Betty of Holiday, Florida; one sister, Nellie Holland of Forest City, NC; a half-sister Florence Scruggs of Forest City, NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeff Toney, Greg Toney, Lisa Nelson, Mike Carswell, Michelle Bolding, Holly Davis, Amanda Bennett, and Sally Raya; and by 16 great-granchildren.
