Max G. Alexander, age 88, of Caroleen, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Hospice of Rutherford County.
Born July 8, 1930 in Rutherford County, he was the son of William Alexander and Lilly Whitesides Alexander Shuford. He faithfully served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, and later worked at Fiber Industries/Hoechst Celanese for more than 30 years before retiring in 1996. Max greatly enjoyed listening to gospel singing and riding around to wherever the roads would take him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Betty Lou Alexander; two brothers, Ray Alexander and Arnold Alexander; and three sisters, Sarah Hamrick, Betty Jones and Ethel Propst.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Lisa Greene and her husband, Richard; one sister, Carrie Pearson; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Holy Ground Community Baptist Church on Withrow Road with Pastor Ed Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Harrelson Funeral Home.
